it’s just more fun like overall, like, inlife, when you're not stressed about money. right. you know, it’s not like we’re, you know,rich people here, but we know where our money’s going, (laughing). my dad did a great job at building a successfulbusiness. working with my family is a lot of fun, imean, a bunch of mechanics getting together. we have a great time. when we first got married we lived in thistiny, little apartment and we had no budget to speak of.
we didn't really know what we were doing. i got scared when i started to think aboutthe future. welcome to this special day in the life ofbethany and jon. jon and bethany, it’s my privilege to knowyou both, and to be part of this special day. well he was, jay is a special breed of person. on october 12th, 2014, i had the privilegeof conducting their wedding ceremony. come on in… bethany asked me at one point, “could yoube our financial advisor?†and i said, “sure, i’d love to.â€
so you guys, the house looks great. well our first financial goal after gettingmarried was to buy a house. before we got married you know. i didn't plan for the next week let alonethe next 5, 10, 15 years, so we met with jay and talked about you know. where do you think we are financially? and so, we set up a budget, we talked abouthow much they needed to save. jay saw our financial situation as promising,very promising. we did not.
i can’t recall, whether it was the firstreview or the second review and they brought in their numbers and i looked at them, andi said “you can do it.†and bethany cried, and jon cried and theni cried. we're in a house now that we were able to remodel, we have a dog, the baby’s on theway and we’re not scared. i truly believe that he could take any budget,any income and still make it work. when a plan actually comes together, thenyou know that we've done our job, and it’s just the start for this couple. it is really encouraging knowing that we’vegotten a head start.
